Consumer Assessment - Help/Clarification required!

1.With reference to relevant legal processes and institutions, evaluate the effectiveness of the law in achieving justice for consumers.

Hi guys,

Basically my issue lies within the fact that I'm not quite sure that I'm approaching the question correctly in terms of answering them.

Would it be fair to say that the question means effectiveness of the law in achieving justice for the INDIVIDUAL, but not society? Seeing as it specifies consumers [who are by definition individuals who buy or use a service/commodity from another person].

I was wondering this because I felt that covering justice for individuals and society would mean about a criteria of 10.

INDIVIDUAL being:

  • accessibility,
  • equality,
  • enforceability,
  • protection of consumer rights
  • resource efficiency,
SOCIETY being:

  • opportunities for enforcement,
  • appeal and review and compatibility with community ethics,
  • balance of individual/community rights
  • law reform.
Basically I want to draw a distinction of consumer meaning achieving justice for the individual and not necessarily society, so I don't have too much to write about. [45 minutes]. Is this a smart move?
Thanks regardless!
