I have just been reading previous students essays that got like 18/20 and 20/20 and comparing them and the thing is they are almost exactly the same as the example one that the teacher gave them, so doesnt that count as cheating when you use someones work just change some of the words around?
Around 35-50% is exactly what she wrote in her example essay.

It's like this. You either plagarised it or you didn't. It's as simple as that. There's no shades of grey.

Even if it was only "thirty percent", it's still copying someone else's work. The Resources section specifically states that "plagiarism is an evil sin".

Exaclty. Cheating is cheating.

As a general guideline, if you are unsure of whether you are cheating or not, then you are most likely cheating.

Plagarism is indeed an evil sin but if you get concepts and ideas from someone else's work it is kinda hard to prove that you didnt think of them urself, i use the guidebooks and notes and stuff as well as exemplar essays to get a solid understanding of the topic, however this is different to copying word for word but seriously how would the exam markers know if its not ur own work, theres thousands of people doing the hsc its very unlikely that the same person would mark both unless ur from the same school... plus, teachers enjoy having their own crap regurgitated, it makes them feel special, like someone actually cares about stupid bloody shakespeare... that was my senseless rambling for the night, enjoy!
