Need the opinions of uni students atm

What course to take if I wanted to become rich? Hardness of course(1-5)? Level of interest (boring-very interesting)?

What course for a quiet passive job? Hardness? Level of interest?

What course for a exciting and stimulating career? Hardness? Level of interest?

Rich:
Law (Hard to get into, You either love it or loathe it)
Medicine (Hard to get into, lots of work)
Actuarial Studies (Hard to get into, I hope you like maths)
Finance (Medium to get into, I hope you like maths)
Mining Engineering (Medium to get into, I hope you maths)

Quiet Job:
Economics (Medium to get into, maths and content based)
Education (Medium to get into, content based)
Accounting (Medium to get into, not the most exciting course)

Exciting:
Tourism (Easier to get into, skills orientated, people focused)
Hospitality (Easier to get into, skills orientated, people focused)
Management (Easy-Medium to get into, content and skills)

You'll get a lot of debate about that list because everyone sees it different, and people are interested in different things.... you'll find that a lot of jobs requiring high enterence marks usually have high salaries as jobs... but tourism, hospitality and management can also pay well, although with nearly all jobs, you need to work your way up the job ladder.

The quieter courses tend not to have much job progression, such as economics, you start off as a research assistant on 40k a year and end up as a senior economist on 100k a year but there's not much after that... same with accounting.

Education can be a quiet job.......in terms of stability, but not if you were teaching primary :p.that aint quiet at all ! :p

Education is veried, from Primary, Seconday and Tertiary... and you can even pick up employment in the departmental side of education such as working for the UAC or even BOS without actually teaching... So with education you could be anything from a child care centre worker to a associate lecturer or a professor... you even have a chance for becoming the Minister for Education :D

I thought you needed to become a politician/MP for an area to become a Minister of Education.

Yes you do, but having an education background will always put you in good stead for being the Minister for Education, if have a look at the past Education Ministers, quite a few of them have Education departmental backgrounds.

lol @ all the biased responses!
now it's my turn...

Exciting: visual arts and graphic design, of course!

Course difficulty: pretty bludgey :D (you just have to be willing to really get into the practical side of things)

Entrance difficulty: usually easy, depending on which uni, but sometimes difficult. A good portfolio really helps in this area.

Of course, art is not the ideal option if you want to be rich, but the more senior roles in the graphic design industry and film industry (i.e. art directors), are really well paid. But then, the work is its own reward :)

I've got a friend who's a Qantas engineer, and he's got the same deal regarding the airfare and accom.... so who cares about accounting, just go work for Qantas :D

yay, be a vet! if u get into a good job - like zoo or wildlife work - its uber exciting, or you could work in a small animal practice and its quieter, but u still have to use your brain.
ease of getting in - geez its bloody hard!
excitement level - well i find that dissecting a dog is much more exciting than learning about the economics of the wheat trade, but thats just me
pay - well, its pretty shit really, $36,000 straight out of uni, rising with experience, and can get pretty high if you successfully run your own practice or specialise, but i'm not in it for the money so it doesnt really bother me.

edit: just realised i made it sound really bad! its not, its good, offers flexibility for working mums, offers different challenges everyday, but you do have to be into it to enjoy it
