so our 3 unit teach has been away a lot an the only thing we've done is read a teachers essay on the topic.........so can anyone tell me wat its bout and any related texts? thanx

there are thousands of related texts that u can choose from.. just watch channel 10! they're so bloody full of crime shows its not funny.

ok crime fiction.. ive jus got this from the www.hsc.csu.edu.com website. Our class hasn't been given a set definition as yet as to what crime fiction is but here we go:

The genre of crime fiction has mystery as its key element. The mystery and its solution by rationality and the careful accretion of evidence may be the primary focus of the text. This invites the responder’s active involvement in the deduction of the solution to the crime. The mystery may also be the vehicle for other focuses. (Syllabus documents)

Find and read any two of the following:

A short story by Edgar Allen Poe, e.g. The Murders in the Rue Morgue or The Case of the Purloined Letter.

A Sherlock Holmes short story. e.g. from The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by A Conan Doyle

A classic Agatha Christie detective novel, e.g. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, Death on the Nile, Murder on the Orient Express, or Ten Little Niggers (reprinted in the USA as And Then There Were None.)

An Australian crime novel by e.g. Peter Corris, Marele Day, Gabrielle Lord or Kerry Greenwood

A modern American crime novel , by e.g. Sara Paretsky, Patricia Cornwell, Michael Connelly, Kathy Reichs, Elmore Leonard

A modern British crime novel, by e.g. Minette Walters, Ruth Rendell, Ian Rankin

Also

View any two examples of crime movies, perhaps The Maltese Falcon (1941) directed by John Huston from the Dashiel Hammett novel or Murder on the Orient Express, (l974) directed by Sidney Lumet from the Agatha Christie novel.

View any two television crime series programs or episodes e.g. The Bill, The Cops, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Blue Heelers, Heartbeat, White Collar Blue, Inspector Rex, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

i cant help but i can sympathise .. our 3u eng teacher is always away. he has only attended 30% of the lessons we have had this term .. he just neglects us and leaves us to make up stuff and teach ourselves 3 u eng

how hard can it6 be... my mate saids all they do is sit there n talk. if ur capable of doin 3u eng ur capable of doin it urself. i do in physics. my teacher always late

not really .. we are doing speculative fiction! lol it seems semi hard .. i dont even know what it is coz we dont have a teacher to explain it to us. maybe we are capable of doing it ourselves but we still deserve/ should be entitled to a teacher to help and guide us through the course/ tell us when our idead are completly wrong.
this problem isnt that she is late .. its that she never shows up ( i lie, she show up 30% of the time)

can't you complain or something to someone of higher authority?! like the head teacher?? gawd id die if i didnt have a teacher, im so dumb... does she have a valid reason for not turning up?

She has reasons such as : "my car blew up"
"my kids fell from a tree" etc ( are they legit? we dont know)
i was going to take a few friends and complain to the principal ( are you just allowed to do that? well cant be bothered going to head teacher, deputy, haha staright to the top)
noone wants to complain with me though, coz the teacher is a nice person .. but im like guys she doesnt come to class, and they are like i dont want her to hate us ..

if you guys dont complain.. your going to be seriously disadvantaged.. id go to the principal if you think they will take it further than the head teacher etc. And if ur friends arent going to go with you.. then they are the ones that are going to suffer when it comes to this time next year.

and im sure the teacher wouldnt hate you? i mean if shes a nice person...

i dunno, i mean its up to you guys, but if it was me thats what i would do.. but having no teacher is always fun

yeah .. i think i am going to leave it to the end of this term .. and see whether she shows up much ( she could have had legit excuses, and while she has only shown up like 40% of the time, we have only been back at school for like 4 weeks) if her absence rate is still no good by the end of term i may go to the principal. we have the same problem for adv too ( ext and adv eng is the same teacher)
edit: the lessons are before school ( 7:30 - 8:30) it is no fun waking up early for nothing then having an hour to kill!

yeah that sounds like a good idea... shit the same teacher for adv?? id die.. theres no way i could understand coleridge all by my little lonesome..

and cause im a lil bitch.. i jus wouldnt get up in the mornings for the classes.. pff if she stood us up.. id stand her up.. if that makes sense :S

haha the other day we came .. and decided to "conduct the lesson" by ourselves .. we did it but compltely wroing, and wrote wrong/stupid answers on the board .. then went and told her later that day when she arrived at school that we taught ourselves.. and she freaked coz what we wrote was stupid .. but that didnt make her show up for our lessons the next day

no syllubus ( english sylabuss would be hard to teach yourself from though, it isnt like chem or business studies or something)yeah we have the first text we are meant to be studying .. got that last week

last week? we got our texts last term.. holy crap.. i feel so sorry for u surely there must be another teacher or someone that notices the teacher doesnt turn up?

not really .. because it is early morning classes, other teachers arent there ( occasionally the head teacher comes in to do some work, and there is one teacher that appears to arrive at 7:30 each morning, as she lets us in the classroom!) the deputy principals and stuff arent there either.

other teachers may notices that our teacher turns up .. but then she says her excuse ... if she isnt there tommrow i might seriously consider, i dont know! something
