I'm thinking of doing Comm/Computer Science at UNSW, but I'm also interested in data science. If I don't end up transferring out and I complete comm/cs, will I still have opportunities to be a data scientist?

hey! im also doing going for a comm/cs degree at unsw! yeah, for sure you'll have opportunities to go into the field of data science, just work on personal projects and find internships into fields with data science and if you want to pursue that path, at least you'll have the experience necessary when you graduate

Unless you have a phD in that area or a Masters in it, you are unlikely to go straight into data science. Data scientists are seen as unicorns in the workplace and generally have more than a bacehlors or have a bachelors with applicable experience.

Do the postgrad qual if you still want it. Or go do some coding work after uni and re-evaluate
