you know how DFEE significantly lowers the uai for courses, well does the same happen for medicine? Does it lower the uai? Is there even DFEE for medicine, or is only CSP available?

it's lower but not by that much. often a few umat points, a few 0.10s of UMAT points or a slightly lower interview score. remember, there's only a handful of dfee'ers per med school, and about 100-200 students per year. the DFEEers r only just below the cutoffs for the CSP places.

Yup, it's a HUGE financial commitment. Someone I know was offered DFEE for UNSW med but turned it down. I'm pretty sure her parents are capable of paying but talking $32K+ a year--that's like double (our) school fees (she was on a full scholarship).

Well, at Bond, the course is 4 years, saving you 70-80K =)!

=P So it'll only be like 130K in total! Bargain!
Lol, its more like $240 000.

How? Assuming you earn 300k in the first 5 years, take away ~40% for tax, you are left with 180k. How are you going to live on -20k? :p (assuming the cost is $200k, im pretty sure its like $240k at UNSW).

hey, i'm pretty sure someone on bos (was it you aussiechica??) posted something along the lines of "soon the unis are only going to take into account your gpa and umat when transferring to medicine, and won't have to take into account your uai anymore". Is this true????

Im not sure about 400k. But yeh...we were talking about paying it off by yourself. If you count parents, then it can potentially be very easy, or hard.

i don't think i said that, but yeah apart from unsw and utas, uais don't matter for non-standard applicants.

for unsw, the uai counts for 50% and the gpa for 50%
for utas they take your last 3 semester's worth of gpas. if you're only in 1st yr (i.e. have only taken 2 semesters at uni) they take those 2 gpas and your uai.
