Re: UNSW CoOP - Academic Requirements

whats the difference between cadetship and a scholarship?
http://www.graduateopportunities.com/your-career/undergraduate-programs/

This highlights it well enough

Cadetship = Full time/part time paid work for a company (such as say, EY for a well known one) while completing your degree

Co-op Scholarship = Your course is sponsored by industry leading organizatons and structured specifically with this in mind. You also get given placements at your sponsor corporations (us BITs get 2 6 month placements over a 3 year course) and exposure to an array of other industry related oppurtunities. Your placements are subsadized by a scholarship worth a certain amount

A scholarship is simply getting paid a sum of money for studying at the University

I will elaborate on cadetships which are basically similar to co-op scholarships but instead you fast-track yourself with a specific company and they take care of your development through their way.
You are given flexible time off to do part-time uni whilst working full-time for a year or two and then go back to uni full-time to complete your degree (smaller firms might have you stay and work throughout your whole degree) - in addition significant study grants are given whilst studying at uni-full time so you are still financially viable to take care of yourself at uni and focus on your studies, and most will guarantee a senior position with the firm whilst you finish your studies.

People who do Tafe diploma's whilst at uni usually do a certain diploma relating to leadership etc.., this isn't the diploma you see that is marketed as 2 years in a relevant course etc.. but more of a training course for soft skills or skills that are demanded nowadays in workplaces (excel, programming etc..) - some also do languages at tafe to learn a language on the side.
