What is the difference between economics and commerce? can someone explain this to me. Maybe could someone (eg Minai hehe) give me an example of a typical commerce or economics semester (by subjects). Im probably going to do economics eventually but im curious as to how commerce differs from it.

In first year, theres no difference - you do exactly the same core subjects in commerce and economics..your electives will relate to your 2nd major or minor

Basically, the difference between Commerce and Eco is as follows
- You cannot do Actuarial Studies major in B.Economics
- One of your majors in B.Economics HAS to be either 1) Economics 2) Econometrics 3) Financial Economics or 4) Economic History, whereas in Commerce you can do any majors

I should say that I find that particularly ironic considering that Actuarial is more related to Economics than some other majors, and in the graduation ceremonies is stuck under 'Economics'. True it's only to save administrative time, but surely it's indicative of something?

not really - depending on your majors
an Economics student may end up as an accountant if he/she does an accounting major and appropriate CA/CPA qualifications
