How do you find th first and second derivative of e^(x^2)? This is my first encounter with such. Would the first derivative be e^(2x)

Use the Chain Rule

$\frac {d}{dx}e^{x^2}= \frac {d e^{x^2}}{d x^2} \times \frac {d x^2}{dx} = e^{x^2} \times 2x = 2xe^{x^2}$

or in simple words (aka the way my brain like to remember it)
find the derivative of the index then multiply it to the term

you still keep the e^(x^2)
