They are not.
Diffusion- Is a method of passive transport, where the solutes are carried from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration with the concentration gradient. This process requires no energy expenditure.
Active transport- Moves solutes from an area of low concentration to an area of high concentration. This means it goes against the concentration gradient and hence requires the expenditure of energy (which comes in the form of ATP btw).

Well yeah google the similarities cause I can't think of much at the top of my head, maybe one would be both processes involve the transport of materials? And also use a table for these sort of questions

The question asked you to compare and contrast. To compare you'd list similarities and to contrast you'd list differences, so yeah you better put both of them in your answer.
