I'm confused, if a question asks to find the closest distance of the particle to the origin, why is it at when s is minimum, on the graph doesn't that show it as the greatest distance no matter if it's maximum or minimum

What is s representive of?

Normally s represents speed or displacement, and velocity is normally used instead of speed.

So I think s represents displacement.

In which case it would be minimum.

but I don't understand the fact that to find the closest distance of the particle to the origin would be finding the minimum

since on a s graph isn't s=0 (y axis) the origin and minimum is the maximum displacement

The distance is a minimum when the the absolute value of s is a minimum.
