As a resident stats guy, just thought I'd post up some stats for HSC 2013 based on the DA list:

Disclaimer: This is solely based on number of distinguished achiever's (i.e. number of band 6/band E4s) and does not take into account the number of exams attempted by each school (which is considered in the methodology adopted in the newspapers).

Also, interactive graphic from SMH is as below (thanks asianese):

Is this how school ranks are determined?
No, it doesn't take into account the size of the school i.e. the number of exams they attempt. It's just purely by raw numbers. The list that will come out will be quite different, but I thought these stats might be useful/interesting for some people to look at.

Then if the number of attempts were the same as last year, the top 10 would be:

1. James Ruse 72.7%
2. NSB 57.4%
3. Hornsby Girls 56.6%
4. Baulkham Hills 55.2%
5. NSG 53.3%
6. Sydney Girls 52.6%
7. Sydney Boys 47.5%
8. Abbotsleigh 47.4%
9. Sydney Grammar 47.0%
10. Manly 44.3%

I've added some stats for some specific English and Maths courses.
