I read somewhere that it is something like 25% girls to 75% guys?

I know that a lot girls schools don't offer it though.. I guess it is like the male version of textiles?

Yay for sexist subject choice :) =S

No. You'd be better off doing Food Tech or textiles because you're a girl.

lol yes.. because being a girl automatically means im shit at computing ay?? Beat all the guys though.. and we have a pretty smart lot of computing nerdy guys lol..

Fair enuf wow 25%.. mind you i guess the number of students doing SDD is normally pretty low like 2000-4000 so 25% Is not that many girls really

I agree it's a guy subject
but my school offers this subject as well and there is only about 16 people doing it? mainly because we're in girl private school and there is only one female software teacher in the entire school teaching us. Half of us failed exams while other half getting band 5 and 6. Personally i think it depends on whether you get it or not, honestly my HSC for this subject is next week and i still don't get algorithm.

Wow... at our school if a subject has less than about 5 people they just don't offer it =S

Consider yourself lucky? (assuming you are that 1 girl :p)

me too
my school offered information and technology at the beginning of our year 11 but only 3 girls were doing it so they cancelled it instead.

Yeh one girl did SDD at our school, granted she was an exchange student, but she needed help all the time ( I wasnt afraid to give her a hand ;) lol)
Just a genralisation, but girls are less computer intelligent and therefore dont take the subject...but there are always exceptions like the 25% of the girls ( i wouldve guessed 10% though)

Just looked it up for this years SDD exam, 175 females and 1658 males... so total of 1833... Therefore 10% for 2008!! lol

so does Ruse for IPT and SDD lol..

ye I thought 25% females was a bit of a high figure - 10% sounds about right :p

co-ed school, all guys class (grand total of 5) this year.

Although I think there's 1 girl in software for 2009 hsc (i remember she was in the programming competition)
