Chang: yes, they are distinction courses and they count towards your UAI if they are in the top 10 (best) units.

if you're in year 11, then you must have accelerated in a HSC subject 1 or more years ahead of your current cohort (year group).

e.g. sitting for a HSC exam in year 10 or 11 (even earlier if you're a genius!), years before your cohort.

for example, i sat for maths last year and to be accepted into a distinction course (DC) you'll need to get a band 6 at least, have good grades, extra curricular, leadership, all that stuff to show you're capable :)

for more info, see
www.distinction.nsw.edu.au

hope that helps you out :)
- Huy, a bitter maths accelerant who was rejected for Philosophy this year... LOL :p

LOL, im ashamed
nope, maths is just about my worst subject (more of an english/computers guy)

but i didnt make the cut for a band 6 last year.
having said that, i'm "up there" now in terms of my maths, since last year i didnt do one thread of homework, i was at the bottom of the class, and now i'm going smoothly now :)

set for a band 6 hopefully in maths this year to offset last year's.
hehe, glad you asked though.

that's a lesson for everyone else,
don't waste time... do your homework and take your prelims seriously (if any yr 11's are reading :))

the hsc's will be different though ... i'm going to make sure of that :)

thx huy

yeah im accelerated in maths. I did the 2U maths HSC last yr in yr 10 and i scored quite low (mainly because i studied 5 mins for the 2u maths hsc test). This year im going for a band 6 in 2U and atleast a band 5 in ext 1.

The problem now is that i dont have much extra curricular activities cept maybe im doing VET IT which gives me a Certificate II (if it counts).

Also i have to agree with that bit of advice huy gave. If your in yr 11 do your h.w. Dony worry bout extra study but get your h/w finished because for many people you dont get a second chance (fortunately for me i get 2 chances :p), but ive learned from my mistakes and i take mathes seriously now.
