I'm doing a a business studies assignment which you need case studies for and you have to talk about strategies used by the business in order to increase performance. Would you need statistics for every point you make like in economics or can you just say what is expected to happen because for many points there aren't any stats given.

E.g.
XYZ business has adopted a more democratic leadership style in order to give workers a greater say in the decision making process of the business and improve worker morale. This has resulted in greater job satisfaction and reduced absenteeism which has lead to increased worker productivity and efficiency and allowed for the business to be more competitive and improve its performance.

or would I have to have stats, such as absenteeism reduced by 9% following the change, in order to be able to include it in the assignment??

So ideally for case studies, you would have the corresponding statistics that shows markers your ability to understand the entirety of a "contemporary business." However, due to the sensitive nature of these statistics, most businesses do not disclose these to the general public (you would usually have to be a stakeholder to have access to this type of information). Generally you can justify to the marker the strategies used by the business you have chosen and preferably describe how the business' situation has improved through a qualitative analysis of the marketing mix, etc.

Or ask your teacher if you can do a hypothetical business? This is allowed by the Syllabus and you won't have to worry about ensuring the validity of the statistics you have written, etc.
