- construct the development of non-circular transition pieces.
you ARE familiar with transition pieces right? well just to recap they're supposed to be a 2D representation of the material joining the edges of one plane to another plane. Once you draw them up, you will be able to cut it out of sheet metal material, fold and presto; is ready to use.
Go and look at a range top cooker...thats a good example...or an air coditioning vent in public buildings. You will notice that more often than not it involves a square cross section piece joined onto a circular cross section. The syllabus wants you to draw it~

justify graphics as a communication tool for telecommunications engineering
yeah there are no texts that deal with this point explicitly as it is too open ended...but just come up with some random BS in your answer, while paying particular attention to the key word "justify"- which means that it's good and you have to explain why it is used~
I personally would answer something along the lines- "graphic representation of concepts is an invaluable communication tool for telecommuncations engineering because it allows others to understand the key components of a system and how these interact together. Graphics allow us to understand the functioning of a system by simplified representations- extraneous details are omitted so as to leave the bare essentials.
