Outline some examples of the occurrence, production and uses of esters
I hope this helps. The production of esters: esters are formed by this reaction: alkanol + alkanoic acid <--> ester(ethyl ethanoate) + water.
Occurence and uses of esters: Esters occur naturally in the form of flavouring agents and scents. The odours and flavours of fruits are caused by the prescence of esters. Solid animal fats and plant oils are also natural esters.
Esters can be used to produce cosmetics and also add flavouring to food. Some esers are also used in industry as solvents or thinners as they are able to dissolve many polar and non-polar organic solutes.
