DVD drive and power supply (1 Viewer)

I'm thinking of getting a new computer and I've thinking the components listed below:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 939 Processor
Mainboard: Nforce 4 motherbord
Graphic card: PCI-Express 6600GT graphic card
Harddisk: SARA2 -300 harddisk (200GB)
DVD Rom: DVD-RW +/- Dual Layer Rom
RAM: Matched pair of 512MB DDR RAMS (same brand, same model, same class of chips)
Case: 'Antec' 450W True-power power supply case

My friend told me because of the DVD drive and the graphic card I have chosen would consume much power, and therefore I need to have 450W power supply for my case. Otherwise it may reuslts in failure in writing DVD files and damage the disc. Is this true?

How much would they cost with this spec, im aiming at around $1000 - $1100. Thanks

I don't think you need to worry about buying an underpowered PSU as much as buying a shitty one. Anything can be damaged when you lose power, but burners don't take up much power at all.
Also, don't look at the watts on a power supply, it is only a marketting number. What you need to be looking at is the amps on the +12V rail. I've bought a cheap case with a 450 watt power supply which was unreliable with a similar setup to yours because it only had 10 amps, I switched it with a 350 watt PSU that has 15 amps and all is well.

Antec is a quality brand and that power supply will give you no problems running double that setup.
