how do you write video files on the computer onto a DVD and so u can watch it on a DVd player???

i got Nero and all these programs that came with it, but dont knwo exactly what to do.

get Dvd encypter, that copies over the raw .vob files to your hdd, then get dvd2avi to make it into avi, then use program such as virtual dub or tmpeg to compress it

I think he wants to convert avi into a DVD movie.

Just use Nero/Burn DVD video files, but their convertor may take ages.

yeh thats what i wanted.


its taking 2 hours

basically i downloaded a .avi format video file . and wanted to see if i can burn it so i can watch it on a DVD player.

its creating folders and such it said and estimated time is nearly 2 hours

It takes a lot of processing power to convert video files between different formats. Maybe the previous ones were MPEG2 and didn't need conversion.

Im guessing those ones were mpeg1 files

nah i tihnk last time i just saved them as files, never ment for viewing on DVd player. for storage basicly

Ahh ok, yeah.

Nero isnt the best for quality, but in terms of ease, its good for that.

If you want a more in depth tutorial, that site posted is a good place, TMPGenc and CineCraft Encoder are probably the two best for the job.
