can a dvd from any region be played on your dvd drive of a computer?

does it matter what brand/drive you have?

what do i need to know?

No. Your DVD drive has a set region. You can change it 5 times if I remember correctly.

To do this, go to My Computer. Right click the DVD drive, properties. Go to the Hardware tab. Once there, select the DVD drive, and hit properties there. There is a DVD region tab in the window that will pop up.

Yes. Five times, almost all recently made DVD drives have this RPCII protection built into them.

Even old ones had that mechanism I rember my old PC which had a 2x CD burner having that

CD burners shouldn't have any region protection.

I dont remember if it was a combo drive or if it was the DVD, drive, but I was giving an indication on how old it is, cause I hadnt moded that PC at all

It must've been one of the earlier models with RPCII protection then....from memory before the very slow burners they were all RPCI.

yeah with dvd drives you can only change it 5 times...but you can get a program called DVD Region Free, this solves the problem...it just runs in the background anad allows all porhrams to open all dvds....

i read somewhere that the figure was 50:50 of pirated to legal users
