I think he's missed the point that a lot of business/commerce people major in economics, they just don't do a BEc...

alot of people in banking and finance have economics degrees.

as above, and public policy, statistical analysis, economic forecasting, all sorts of weird and wacky things.

Also, a lot of economics graduates also major in something else, like Acc, so there are a lot of Accountants with a BEc degree.
