UNSW has advised me to go into another program instead of MSc Econ, they admitted me into Commerce and Economics & the suggested specialization is financial econometrics.
i think its because my UG degree was in finance & has been working on research projects in corporate finance (w/o prior economics experience).
the other offer i got is Usyd MSc Econ.
Some of my fds who did economics in undergrad told me that finance is more practical than economics & or i have to stay in academia. is it the case? and indeed, i am asking the program authority to consider offering master of finance or financial analysis instead of commerce and economics...
also, as i am an overseas applicant, could you tell me which uni has better connection w/ the business sector? coz i dont want to be too academic & depart too far away from the commercial.
i just want to hear what you guys think. thanks!!
