Does anyone know what the chemical equation for the electrolysis of Zinc sulfate is?

Thanks in advanced!

2H2O --> O2 + 4H+ + 4e- -1.23 V (Oxidation reaction at the anode)
Zn2+ + 2e- --> Zn -0.76 V (Reduction reaction at the cathode)

---

2H2O + 2Zn2+ --> O2 + 4H+ + 2Zn

And the sulfate?

When i did the experiment, silver coated on one electrode and a black grey deposit on the other.

I used 2 zinc electrodes.

Nothing will happen to the sulfate.

2SO42- --> S2O82- + 2e- -2.01 V
2H<sub>2</sub>O --> O<sub>2</sub> + 4H<sup>+</sup> + 4e<sup>-</sup> -1.23 V

The oxidation of water is a more favourable process compared with the oxidation of sulfate.
