I heard that for English mark you get scaled down quite badly, for example if you get 80% for the HSC exam, you get scaled down to 70% Is this true????

i think its too late to be thinking about this
try and achieve the highest mark u can get

i got around 70s in std english and i wasn't happy about it..
but if u can achieve high 80s in std english, the scaling is pretty good since u put urself in the top % in the state

however, having said that, the standard of competition increases every yr..so just try your best
