hey i have a english proposal which involves producing a new version of macbeth relevant to a comptemporary Australian audience. I was juss wondering if anyone has any ideas of where i could set this production and wat time period, as well as whom i culd represent as duncan, banquo, macbeth, and lady macbeth, which is relevent to contemporary Australia.
Any help wuld b appreciated.

You could use racism as the desire for the killings. And the prophecies by the witches as a karma thing.

It'd be cool if you set it in the future like 10 years and it could be like what society would be like then and how if we continue like today, that's what will happen. You asked for ideas....hehehe.

Geoffery Wright made a recent film about Macbeth, placing the play in the context of a Melbourne Gangland setting, with Lady Macbeth being the guy's wife who would do anything for her hubby to get ahead of the game. It was reviewed in today's Sydney Magazine, I believe.
