hi guys,

a friend of mine is doing esl in yr 12. she needs a tutor (preferbly a private one), but she's unsure of what kind of tutor to look for. qualified ESL teachers are a bit hard to find and usually pretty costy; uni students who have done ESL in yr 12 are *often* not articulate enough to tutor others, and students who did adv english wouldn't have a clue what the ESL syllabus requires.

i'm just wondering who has had/has a tutor for ESL and can offer my friend some recommendations? any help will be greatly appreciated!

I would recommend that your friend talk to their ESL teacher about ESL tutors they might have some ideas on where to find a suitable tutor. Btw what school is your friend from?

I think the best way to get tuition is to go to one of the tuition place where they tutor you as a class. As this is ESL, and not many people are doing it, making it difficult to find private tutors. With the commencement of the new material "Journey" in 2004, it made it more difficult to find a suitable tutor as students like me, prior to 2004, have learned "Perspectives" as the overriding "theme" for the Area of Study, not "Journey".
