hey i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what i could write a basic essay on. i have done one on like signs and symbols/spirituality, but ill be fucked if they dont ask me anything that relates.

i was going to do one on like post modernism, but i dunno i cant really find much info on artists...

any other ideas...?

hey why dont you just use past exam questions and write practice essays on the artists from your case studies
isnt that whats supposed to be in those essays!!!

well i found that a good essay writing topic was the idea of contemporary art and its demolishing of traditional values of art. it's a very general topic but it can be applied to heaps of questions in the hsc paper (if tht is what you are preparing for). i studied the contemporary art practices of a huge range of artists and yeah.

i go with having a bunch of case studies (some fit together, others contrast) and out of them i can generally get a really good essay. the last assessment our class did was with three artists (postmod) under the title "self and identity" -- so that gave me three together so easily. we just id them in a matrix with artist, artwork, cultural frame, audience, postmodern frame and practice sections to fill in. it was heaps easier than writing up essays and you can suit it to a lot of things.

i'd focus on just learning what each artwork is made up of.... structural things, cultural things, and also learn about some artists and how their artworks are made up...

probably by just examining artists, their artworks u can get a pretty good idea for art.
