I am really disappointed because I failed in total 3 subjects this year! I'm currently doing 1st Year Commerce and I got 98.7 for my UAI but I don't know what happened to my motivation ): I was wondering whether this will severely disadvantage me in the work force - I'm so worried I'll never get a job or something!

Do you know whether if I tried harder and improved next year, my first year results would still hinder my job opportunities and my overall average? Or am I doomed?

Or when we apply for jobs, do we only have to list the subjects that are relevant in to our job (say, Accounting major for example) or do we have to show them our official transcript? I'm extremely stressed arghhh this has put a damper on my holidays ):

Since you are doing a commerce degree, in order to make it into a graduate program you are required to get AT LEAST credit average overall, so if you failed 3 - its not the end of the world, but i would suggest you put A LOT of work in order to get a GPA of at least 5 overall.

Do you enjoy commerce? Prehaps transfer into a degree you enjoy and can put more work into it? My friend done medical science and failed 3 out of 4 subjects in 1st semester at UC. She got a letter from the uni telling her if she didn;t improve they'll kick her out. She changed to Phys. and is getting D average -she enjoys it and can cope with the work....

Good luck

In regards to the other questions, when applying for a job you will have to give a academic transcript that shows ALL your grades. When my friend changed course, her old course ones still stayed on there...

In regards to will it affect your job prospects, its hard to tell. Speaking to a graduate careers manager in a large federal govt dept if you dont meet credit avg you application wont be considered. Then they norrow it down by academic results and interview and a seperate test.. If you REALLY work hard, I think you will be 'ok' - like another poster said in the UNSW forum, the employer will see how much u have improved..

Good lucki

Or they probably won't even care if you aren't going for a job through a graduate program.
