The raid on the Bastille prison, after the Tennis Court Oath, is considered to be the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789. Funnily enough, even though there were only 7 prisoners inside the prison, it became symbolic for the people and ultimately become an important icon for the French Republic after Louis XVI was overthrown.
