Just curious as to why units in business always require students to pass the final exam in order to pass the unit. Isn't this a bit unfair if we were to do really well in all other assessments but fail the unit cause of the final.? Does anyone know of people who have failed a subject because of their final exam? Thanks.

I think this requirement came into effect in 2011 for most subjects. I don't think its right either for the reasons you suggested, but what can you do? :/ I know that MKTG101 and HRM107 don't require you to pass the final (at least that was the case last year).

One of my friends failed a unit because of the final.

The logic behind it is that somebody could have helped you along with your assignments and that the mini tests you do within the semester are not a true reflection of your ability. For the record, I'm not really a fan of the requirement either.
