If anyone is doing this major could they give me a run down on what is actually involved? Is the major somewhat like the econometrics majors?

And would a finance major complement this major?

thanks

A financial economics major is the econometrics (B Eco) equivalent in a B Com degree. Same course program.

As for the finance major complementing it, econometrics has a lot to do with statistical modelling, probabilities, etc. A finance major at UNSW is quite diverse.. you can complete courses on derivatives, corporate finance, fund management, international finance. Honestly I wouldn't say they complement each other, but then again a finance major would give you a break from all the econometrics you'd be doing - especially in 3rd year.
