Does anyone know what the mid-session was out of? Because I got my mark but I donno if it's out of 20, 30, 50, 100, etc? Maybe we can work it out if we all put down our marks.

I got 19.5 and I know someone who got 18... i'm thinking it was out of 30...

fins 1612 isnt too hard of a subject as such. if you are looking to do honours in finance then you really should be gettin HD's in this subject

i dont think fins1612 is finance. its just remembering the textbk and it seems like a course that introduces the terms and basic concepts, and the relevant background details (like regulation, etc) . i would thikn that fins1613 and fins2624 would reflect the real finance subjects in 3rd yr as they seem to be newbie introductions to corporate finance and funds management/ derivatives, and most courses in yr3 seem to involve areas related to those mentioned. the focus would be on problem solving, and having done fins1612, there isnt many problems to solve (except why they made such a shit course in the first place).

I don't mind FINS1612 because it sets the groundwork. Coming into the course I had no idea what derivatives, futures, bonds, forward contracts, etc etc were or how they worked.

i think you should be grateful in a way that they have changed the fins1612 course. you have a much more interesting assignment than the one i had last year as there is more scope for research and independent learning.
