Hey guys,

I am interested in doing graduate law at uws next year and possibly the GDLP after that as well but have some queries as to that GDLP program.

I have been going the uws site on the GDLP or PLT? and am a bit confused as to the changes they are proposing.

What exactly are the subject units you are supposed to do for the GDLP?

and with the LLB electives - can you use all of them to do the GDLP or is there a limit? which GDLP units can you do under the LLB electives?

appreciate if a law student can answer my queries.

thanks.:santa:

Basically... the very summarised version of what'll happen is this:

If you want to do PLT/GDLP.... the best way to do it is to do the undergrad course and take the 2 proposed new units - Professional Legal Skills 1 and 2? or something like that? i can't recall their name atm - as electives.

Then, when you graduate and begin GDLP - you get academic credit for those units for the GDLP... then you begin the GDLP units which are as listed on the handbook page on the website.

You will have to take 2 i think? or 1? can't remember... through the College of Law - but this doesn't really affect anything because basically, we'll do them via college of law then get credit for them into the UWS GDLP... so you'll end up with a GDLP just as before, just that you have to do some bits via a diffferent 'service' - and since a lot is onlione, it's not much different.

I'm not sure what the deal is if you don't opt to do the 2 electives in your LLB... I simply assumed that if you don't, you just do the units when you start your GDLP... but they suggest we do them in the LLB for time and money saving reasons.

If you want more details - email Mac Collings - don't have his email on hand atm, but it'll be on the website. He seems to be the one who's been sending out all the info about this stuff and he sounds like he's quite happy to answer any questions:)
