so ive just about built a new comp, it has a 7800GTX in it, and my PSU is an ANtec Smartpower 2.0 500w

The thing is that my GFX complains every time i boot up, it says there is insufficient power to run at max... so iam like okay...

I look in the user manual to see how much power it actually needs

at 12v it needs... get this: 26amps WTF!!!!! 26 amps?[and 400w which is obviously not the problem] my powersupply only puts out 19 amps max, and its a decent psu.

So iam like oh shit... looks like i need to buy another psu [even though Scorptec can run their stinger, exact same card, same PSU with no problems http://www.scorptec.com.au/system/76 ]

So i am looking online, and to run this GFX in SLI which i want to do eventually needs like 36amps at 12v... thing is i cannot find a PSU that puts out that kind of power, no matter how big and expensive it is.

So now i am wondering if ive missed something simple, if you can double amps by adding another wire or some shit, or maybe theres a way to tweak the PSU

i know not many people who look here are gonna know what i am on about, but if any1 at all understands me and knows the solution please help!

Have you plugged in the extra power (molex) connector required either directly onto the motherboard or onto the video card?

Why do you think this?

I think this because most of the problems on here are phone or software related, a hardware problem is rarely asked

I havent played around with latest graphics cards before, but i pluged the card into the mobo slot etc.

checking manual to see what it says on extra power connectors[because if i need one i dont think i plugged it in]

Hahaha. You're lucky though, some cards don't even 'function' at all without the auxiliary molex connected, such as my X800. By the way, I reckon you should of waited for DX10. Or even considered a $550 7900GT, some OCable to near 7900GTX clocks. Why did you go 7800 rather than 7900? Availability? eBay?

It's what happens when people with little knowhow thinks they can do everything by themselves. I doubt my 6800GT run without auxiliary either.

Until EVGA brings over its signature line, the Gainward 7900GT Golden Sample is the most powerful here and is certain to beat a 7800GTX. Not bad for <600.
