Argh! Is this assignment giving anyone else the shits?

Stupid ambiguous instructions "Analysis of key policy elements" - WTF does that mean??

Anyone have any idea of the way this thing is supposed to be written/structured?

ill post mine up tonight when ive finished editing and referencing :)

if you want help on structure look up other briefing papers through searching on google to get a sense of the format.

id assume key policy elements would be they major parts of the policy. for eg with immigration it would be border protection, mandatory detention, protection visa's etc.

but, yes, it is giving me shits badly.

Yeah, i'll do the same...

Thanks for the structure idea

I'm doing Immigration Policy but specifically children in detention and i've kinda broken it down into the key criticisms: Australia's International Obligations, the conditions of Detention Centres, and the waiting periods associated with detention - does that sound like a reasonable way to do it?

BTW Its GOVT 1105 not 1 but I'm being pedantic.

Have you had a look at Blackboard? There is a cheat sheet up there plus the outline for how it is supposed to be done is in the syllabus. You CAN use subheadings if you wish.

EDIT: I realise that GOVT 1101 AND 1105 have a briefing paper Power in Society has an Essay. I apologise profusely for my TYPOS and LAZINESS - contrary to your belief, I can spell properly and, for that matter, be grammatically correct.

By the way, there was no need to be so rude or pedantic

Oh heres the structure:

The structure of the Briefing Paper:
1. a definition of the political issue and relevant background information (400 words)
2. an analysis of the key elements of the political issue and the positions of other political players (600 words)
3. an analysis of how the organisation or government can shape policy-making on this issue and the range of strategies that are available to them (800 words)
4. provide recommendations for action by the organisation or government for whom you are providing the briefing paper (200 words)
5. ensure that your analysis includes geopolitical concepts throughout

wikiwiki said:
1) It is spelt pedantic.

2) "Theres" needs an apostrophe since you were contracting there is. Also, it is it's since you were contracting it is (bad sentence from me ..sorry). Also, they only had one outline so no s to signify a plural.

3) Fuck..I haven't started writing this assignment yet although I have collated all the information I am using for it. I guess I will start now.
4) The thought never occured to you that GOVT1101 also has a briefing paper assessment?

Uh-oh. I think someone just got SMASSSSSSSHED. :):):)

Hahaha. Nice work. From memory every first year government subject has a briefing paper due this week. The subject of this particular thread - Aussie Politics aka GOVT1101.

As I pointed out in the post which I edited - not all GOVT subjects have a briefing paper; Power in Society have an essay.

I haven't seen any updates on Blackboard - reckon the briefing papers are ready to be picked up?

Post your marks in here.

This is what happens when you have a subject run completely by feminists.

Burn ya bras.
