Help converting between video formats (1 Viewer)

Whenever I try to convert the formats of my videos, the video will end up playing 1000 times as fast as it meant to, but the sound will be playing at regular speed, resulting in a video where the sound and images arent matching up. How can i fix this?

What formats are you converting between, and with what programs?

I was converting from AVI to MPEG using some shady program I got off the net.

Try converting with tmpgenc, and see how you go with that.
