Help! Stuck on algrebra question!!! (1 Viewer)

ok, no matter how many times i do this question, i get it wrong... ok, how do you get the answer - 2 in the following question -

solve this equation

4+2(p-12)=5-3(p+5)




at first i got 10.25
then i tried again and got 8
but the closest to 2 that i ever got was 2.2
arghhhh theres something wrong with me please HELP!!!!

How does this look...

4 + 2(p-12) = 5 - 3(p+5)

Expand first...
4 + 2p - 24 = 5 - 3p - 15

Then collect like terms...
-20 + 2p = -10 - 3p

Put all p's on one side...
-20 + 5p = -10

Put all numbers on other side...
5p = 10

Divide by 5...
p = 2

just take ur time with them, ull do fine. A good rule is to always expand and then collect like terms. This way you should always get the right answer! Then, if you have time. Sub ur answer back in to check.

I am trying to find out the way how you got 10.25, 8 and 2.2.
A difficult job, indeed.
