Some Shipwreck & Salavage dotpoints..im stuck on

*Describe the actions of sulphate reducing bacteria around deep wrecks

well..i did read
-page418 of conquering chem, but i still dont know what it means...anyone help?

Well basically, the bacteria reduce sulfate to hydrogen sulfide:

SO4(2-) + H2O + e(-) --> HS(-) + OH(-) (i'm not gonna bother balancing)

which provides a pathway for the electrons released in the oxidation of iron:

Fe --> Fe(2+) + e(-)
