Ok so, IRP is really pissing me off its the most annoying bit of holliday work. :(

i need some ideas for Qs in my Survey/Questionnaire.

My IRP Q is: " Examine how the role of mothers has changed over time and the impact it has had on the socio-emotional wellbeing of the child"

ANY help is really really appreciated!!

Thanks

You could consider whether the mother stays at home to look after the child or whether the father does.

The different parenting styles that she may employ due to her role expectations.

Ask what people they believe to be the stereotypical mother of the past and now the 21st century.

Obtain children from previous years and get them to fill in a rating scale (1-10) for their socio-emotional wellbeing and then get current children to do the same.

Have a scale to highlight how many hours that the mother would believe that she spends on work, social and her children.

Create a similar scale for the children to judge whether their socio-emotional needs are being satisfied or not.

Include a range of open ended and closed questions to yield appropriate responses. * Include a few more closed than open questions, as people tend to not like writing heaps of information.*

Also maybe examine the changing role of fathers and how this effects the changing roles of mothers? Divisions in labour, divorce, childcare etc.

I love Kat92's ideas but also consider giving open ended questions to allow for qualitative information on these effects.

Thank you! :) I quite agree, I was telling her not to overdo it though as I reckon when I completed mine I may have one or two too many open-ended questions. Regardless, of that it still turn to be one of the top projects and received full marks. :D

@ ELLE, you could also do what supercalamari mentioned as this was one of the aspects that I was trying to think of when I had unfortunately had to log out. Just refer to the syllabus to find the relevant information that you need, so as to effectively cover your hypothesis.
