Hey i never understood in how trying to get the verticle astmotops.....
for example in the equation:

1 over 1 + e^x

its states theres an asthmo at y = 1

can anyone explain to me how to recognise them, as i have been doing past papers and have noticed this question coming up a bit and is a simple one line answer so easy marks...

thankyou in advance

As x approaches really large negative numbers, ex approaches 0, thus leaving the equation as 1/(1+0), ie theres an asymptote at y = 1.

For curves of the type x^2 + 5/ x^2 + 1 The way I do it is divide by the highest power of x, then u'll get fractions such such as 1/x^2 etc which u can then eliminate as 1/x=0 as x--> infinity, then ur left with with just a number which is the asymptote.
