I assume your teacher means linking your paragraphs/related texts etc? Say if you are doing your journeys essay and you have your prescribed, the text from the stimulus book, and the relateds, you could integrate your response better by connecting your analysis by finding links/opposites in the texts. E.g. an example using frontline

Unlike Sitch's Frontline, which uses parody and satire in order to construct truths about the legitimacy of current affairs reportage, Fred Schepii's 1988 film Evil Angels utilizes realism in order to reveal manipulation of the truth by the media...

etc.

I hope this makes sense.

basically, you need to structure your paragraphs, or sections in your essay, by points, not texts.
each point has to be dealt, using your text and related materials.

intro

point 1
text
related material
related material 2

point 2
text
related material
related material 2

............

conclusion

kinda like that.

Thats basically it, although its even better if you manage to create a coherent argument (Answering the question of course) which flows throughout your essay, using an integrated structure. As the criteria for a Band 6 essay response states; Sustains an extended composition, displaying highly developed control of language to express complex ideas with clarity, in an appropriate style.

As such, use synthesised points to support your 'argument', if possible. :)

this might be interesting to you, i rang the hsc advice line the night before my ext eng exam, and the lady said that i didnt need to integrate, it would be judged on content.
perhaps, it is different in your internal assessments.
