How hard is it to get an 86? Like what bands do you have to get, would you have to be like really smart etc etc to get it? I need to know cos I finally decided what I wanna do and I need an 86.

completely depends on your subjects.. and how high a mark u get within the band. Its definitely possible to get a mark like that with all band 5's, i know that from friends who've done that... I think youd have to get a majority of band 5's (or more).. i know people who've got over 90 with all band 5s..

it depends on too many factors to make a judgement
mate you ahve to read the previous posts to get an answer sometimes.

well i think if you do average scaling subjects and you get average of mid 80s or higher in a majority of your subject and you have a subject which is just below 80, such as 77, then you may be a chanve. but again it is quite ambguous to say. i agree with the latter part of bloodysunday's post. :D

Well use Sam. It should give you a general idea of what marks are needed......just enter random marks and see the combinations/bands that get you 86 with your subjects.

What subjects do u do?

When I did the HSC, I did mostly lower scaling subjects, and throughout year 12, I bludged. Meaning I got average marks on assessments tasks. However all it took was about 3 weeks of 6-7 hour study days before the HSC, and I killed it. Even with subjects that don't scale well (i.e. general maths, geography, business studies), I still managed to get the UAI I wanted (at least 90).

I think it depends a fair bit on how smart you are, but you definitely don't have to be the smartest person in the world to get 86. What kind of assessment marks have you been getting? Just make sure you kill the HSC (i.e. study your ass off in the stuvac) and you should be right.

What would my UAI be roughly when my subjects are chem, bio, business studies, mathematics 2 unit and standard english if i managed to average 80% in each? and came within top 10 rank for every assessment

how many subjects have u put in sam?
I put in all my 5 subjects, each 2 units each. Its ok, it works now. If i get 80 in all my subs i can get a uai of 84.something. If i did the HSC in 2003 of course lol.

I know it might sound a bit corny; but I heard that at Skeggs, they get told, not to aim for a UAI just to aim for their best!

I think everyone should take on this! It's REALLY good advice! :uhhuh:

yup pinkpixie, thats a good suggestion. Think of it this way: if you get 100 in all your exams, it can only work in your favour. So try and make it happen.
