Simple survey I'm undertaking as part of research for my magazine.

It would be most appreciated if you would vote. :)

DIY denotes "do it yourself", as in you change the oil on your own.

Pro denotes paying someone else to do it for you.

I check it every week (since I drive about 400-450 km per week during uni times) and have my mechanic change the oil/filter every 6 months or 10000 km as part of the scheduled service in the log book.

I change my oil as often as it needs it. 5-10K km is a guide, more often than not your oil has a great deal of life left in it at that point (depending of course on viscousity, ambient temp and driving style.

Also I change the oil (and all other fluids) on any car I buy. And as seasons change or a leak develops I will also change oil. eg lower viscousity for winter higher for summer. Higher to reduce a leak, lower for slight performance improvement.

I DIY because I want to know exactly what oil goes in, because i object to paying someone to do something I can do myself and finally because I enjoy maintaining my vehicles purely DIY.
