Partition Magic!

now owned by Symantec i think...

There's a few other software, but that's the only one i use.
It's not free though.

if your computer is 'fresh' like nothing on it, or u want to start from scratch (No files, no OS, NOTHING), then u could go with fdisk

if you're installing linux, then you won't have any probs at all.

Before this turns into a massive "OMGLOOKATHOWIHAXEDTHEGIBSON" thread...

I dont recommend merging drives with Partition Magic, it fucked mine over hardcore, lost information from both drives and only managed to salvage a few through a recovery program. If you can use the normal windows fdisk command rather than the program, and dont try it through windows, only makes things worse.

ok...sorry about that previous post....but back to the topic:

I've never heard of merging drives....I'm assuming it's possible. But is it possible to merge a SATA and normal HDD?...and when u merge HDDs.....what's the good thing about it?...or how does it work?

I think he's actually referring to merging partitions, not the drives themselves.

Ye you like merge it into a pre-defined folder. But I'd rather had 2 drives instead of 1.
Like incase of stuffed up operating system, you can backup your important stuff into the other drive.

Note that in the original post
It's not a straight off 'merger'

It's more of a split, then merge.

Partition Magic is for babies. You can't go wrong!!!!

btw, what is a free Partitioning software?
I'm not aware of one.
except fdisk

You can always go back to MSDOS and run FDISK to create/delete/modify partitions
but as Fatmuslce said using windows based solutions like Partition Magic is always a good idea. IF you do use FDISK try to backup your files incase something goes wrong
