i feel a bit behind & lost in biology due to it being heavy in content and also the questions r so hard to get full marks in. i have only abt 4 weeks left till trials and need to get atleast an 80+. im aiming for abt a 85 in the external exam. im behind in notes. ive got mod 5 done, a bit of mod 7 & 8 and no mod 6. other than catching up on notes, can i get any advice on how to smash bio in these next few weeks and even up till the hsc? im so lost.

I think in 4 weeks you can try finishing all your bio notes, even a condensed version and then after trials you can add detail. I recommend pasting the whole syllabus on a doc and answering each dot point as if it were a question like 1-2 paragraphs per point if you’re really short on time. basically notes that have a Q&A format, I love making notes this way for content heavy subjects. if you want an example of the format I mean, pm me and I’ll send for inspo

do past papers at the same time, if you want you can add to your notes as you do past papers and notice concepts you need to go back and study

really the most important thing is knowing the content, in your position rn I would rather know the content well and do few past papers, than do loads of past papers without knowing the content well

i've been ranking first and consistently getting 95+ in bio. the trick is to get your notes down (finish ALL by this week, you can do it), and just spend a good couple of days memorising your notes. word for word. yes, it is time consuming, but bio is a content subject. it's kinda inevitable.

then, do as many past papers as possible. something good about past papers, including HSC ones, is that you will start to notice patterns in the questions they ask and the answers they want. for example, for meiosis, they want to see the phrases 'recombination,' 'new combination of alleles,' 'genetic diversity,' 'continuity of species,' etc. i think once you come across a type of question that has been repeated many times, memorise the answer itself.

bio is just a memorisation game. there is virtually no analysis needed. just practice, learn the patterns, and memorise. you got this!
