The ability to instantly generate ideas is a highly cognitive process as it is a result of engaging in deep thought and gaining extensive experience (prior to the event where the ability to instantly generate ideas is required) that are manifest within a very short timeframe, such as when you are sitting an exam. Because of this, practice, along with regular revision of your prescribed texts and supporting elements (such as relevant techniques and quotes), are essential in terms of enhancing your ability to instantly generate ideas and is therefore something that you may wish to consider as you approach any exam, not just one that assesses Module A.

Additionally, some tips that you should consider following on the day of the exam to assist you with ensuring that this process is uninterrupted include:
  • Focusing on the important information - Consistent with the idea of cognition, thorough knowledge of your prescribed texts will enable you to prioritise the most important information and consequently generate good quality ideas efficiently.
  • Reading the question multiple times (assuming it is an essay question) - Doing so may ease thinking and idea recognition under more stressful conditions.
  • Recalling your knowledge - Once you have done the above, you will then naturally begin to remember essential information that will hopefully allow you to come up with ideas within a limited amount of time.
  • Taking a deep breath - Of course, while this is a general tip, it is essential that you do that in order to reduce stress and subsequently be able to apply the aforementioned tips.
I hope this helps! :D
