The question reads:
"Analyse the relationship between the position of the elements on the periodic table and the acid base behavor of their oxides"

Does anyone have a good answer to this question? CSU site and most other sources I've tried give a pretty weak explanation, and certainly do not analyse the relationship.
Any good ideas? Sources?

I thought this was actually a very general dot point
when i read it

metal oxides, basic
aluminium, berrylium, lead, zinc and tin have amphoteric oxides
(at school i was only told to remember Al and Be)
all non-metal oxides are acidic or neutral

I guess the analysis is the direction on the periodic table
like as you move up and to the right the oxides get more acidic?
and vice versa,

hope some of this has helped
