Remember to write fast for the essays and comphrension.

In the listening, try to answer some of the questions during the first hearing on the bottom of the page. And in the second hearing, listen carefully to get the answer to the remaining question. All of the 4- 6 marks questions in the Listening papers are on Language techniques/features, so you don't have to try so hard listening to every single words that are coming out the speakers mouth! There are only a few techniques employed from speaking, such as audience engagement, tone, pitch, see if they are laughing, language features - formal/informal/colloquial. My point is, focus more on some of the detail they want you to listen to such as "What reason was given by the speaker for the ban of firework use" This is the sort of question you need to listen for information. Questions like "What does the speaker mean when they say "The ocean was a blue crystal". For this sort of questions, there are no use trying to find the answer from the tape, the markers wants YOUR interpretation from your understanding from studying ESL. Then from your knowledge, you have to say the speaker use the language technique metaphore to emphasise the fact that the ocean was blue, like the pigment found in some blue crystal to describe the beauty of the sight of the ocean. (and long those line).

Therefore, they are 3 main types of questions they can ask you:
Factual question: reason for banning firework type mentioned before
Interpretation type: the blue crystal...
The language techniques/features type.

Good luck everyone!
