i need help on one of the dot points in the syllabus in ideas and implementation.

it says "process information to discuss possible applications of superconductivity and the effects of those applications on computers, generators and motors and transmission of electricity through power grids"

if anyone can help that would be great!! xx

possible application with superductors on transmission of power

superconductors offer neglible resistance and could be used in powerlines to conserve power. this way no transformers will be needed for changing power to extremely high voltage. However, the current superconductors needs low temperature to retain its superconductivity and this in terms mean high cost, also superconductors are brittle(ceramic).

so thats basically stuff u need to talk about in transmission

for motors and generators.
you could supercondutors can be used in rotors for 100% efficent production of power. because no heat will be created and therefore less energy loss or some stuff like that.
yea and with computers i think can just same thing. less heat in processors allowing greater clock speed to be reached but not pracitical because of the cost and bla bla bla. i think that is right. but anyone can correct.. please do......

hope that helped

Random stuff:

Reflection and diffraction are quite distinct phonenomna of waves? In regards to the Davisson and Germer experiment with the electron beam (and even the Braggs x-rays) some books say reflected, others say diffracted , some mix both....whats going on?

PS. This is a q2q topic - im looking for an answer quick so i hope putting it here will attract more people.
