I want to do 4 units of english. This is better known as extension 2 english. The thing is, this year i basically flunked extension 1 english. i did awful in it; the assessments and the exam.
now the english faculty really DO NOT want me to do it. they sed if i do good in extension 2 and bad in extension 1 id suffer for it, meaning id get scaled down. but i talked to the teacher who is running extension 2 english for yr 12 and she told me to go for it.

is she right?? should i listen to her or the english faculty?

im thinkin of seeing how it is for the first term, and if it is hard ill drop it, and if it is good ill keep it.

please.. advise me on what to do. do i need to be good in extension 1 english to do extension 2? all we do in extension one is analysing and writing essays.

help :(

I did well in my english extension 1 in year 11.

This year, english extension 1 is my worst subject, and english extension 2 is great.

Just do what you think is right. Leave room so you can drop it if it's too hard.

Ext 2 is so different from ext 1

if you are motivated, and organised, you can do it

it just requires a lot of your own time

yeah they are totally different

if you are up for being creative and putting lots of your thought and work into it then give english extension 2 a go! :)

go for it. you seem motivated enough. have you got any ideas for what you might be doing yet?

and don't worry about the 11u, it's not too much, not too little
i'm doing 11u also :)

At least your school is letting you do it. My school refuses to allow me to do Extension 2 even though I aced Advanced and Extension! Then they say they'll think about it, but they don't get back to me. It seems their plan is to lead me on for as long as possible so that I miss out.

But for you, I think you should just do it. You can always drop it, but it's a helluva lot more difficult to pick it up. Good luck with whatever you do.

well if you flunked the exam one off there shouldnt be anything stopping you but you teachers know better because they're used to these things happening.

you only need 10 units so dropping it is fine. If you think you'll need more units then you havent much confidence. Doing less units means you have more time to focus on what you really want to so consider this when choosing and have faith in what you can achieve even when things arent going right at a particular point in the year. You can always bounce back and its almost impossible to fail. The fact that you even want to do ext 2 is a huge achievement so keep that knowledge in mind as motivation to really throw yourself into any remaining units you have. Goodluck!

hey i went heaps bad in ALL my assessments in ext 1 this yr inyr 11. but im stickinit out, ive even picked up ext 2. i believe i can do it. but then again we are studying crime fiction and im really into that. so i think maybe just see how things go, see how your handling the course, maybe do one assessment task, see how you go and then decide from there.

Doing just 10 units is taking a big risk, I say.

11 units is enough cos they only count best 10 units anyway and they figure out a way to calculate ur UAI (i think) if the 1 unit is better than the 2 unit. You shouldn't freak out man, I'm only doing 10 units and I'm sure everyone else here as well
